On Labor Day, we had DISH Network install their satellite television system which now offers us over 250 channels, including 'local' channels on FOUR of our TV's; all for $47.99/month !! (Mediacom charges about $58.00 for their 'Family Pack' that includes only about 72 channels.) And for the first three months of our new service, we're also receiving HBO & SHOWTIME FREEfromDISH Network !!
Best of all, I now TOTALLY RELY on the WIRELESS HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE installed by www.tothehome.com for ALL my Internet access !! (How's that for a testimonial ?) Mediacom High Speed Internet (and their associated high priced out of sight cable TV service) is gone, GONE, GONE !!

Many factors, such as tree foliage, height of transmitting and receiving antennas and surrounding terrain can all have an effect the service area. The approximate eastern 'boundary' for service is east of the intersection of Carver County 33 where it goes south from Carver County Road 50. MARCH 13, 2010 UPDATE
While installation of the WIRELESS HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE was somewhat ‘curtailed’ during the winter months, winter is now (hopefully) over and the provider of the WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE, www.tothehome.com, is gearing up to once again resume installations in the City of Hamburg and surrounding areas.
I’ve had www.tothehome.com’s WIRELESS HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE installed since it was first introduced to the Hamburg area and find it to be a reliable, and very affordable, Internet access service. So reliable, in fact, I CANCELLED our expensive Mediacom Internet service last September because A) It was way too expensive (over $60.00 a month) and, B) I can get the same type of Internet access at a lower price from www.tothehome.com !!
Let’s face it: Internet access is Internet access; whether it’s the phone company’s DSL Internet access, Mediacom’s high speed Internet access, various satellite Internet services access, local Wi-Fi Internet access being offered by www.tothehome.com, or just plain, old fashioned ‘dial up’ service (which many people in the rural areas still have to rely on because that’s all that’s available to them.)
When the Internet was first introduced, ‘dial up’ access was ‘the only game in town’. (And still is in many parts of the country including our local area.) However, as technology has progressed, so has the variety of means available to gain access to the Internet. Yet, the real ONLY factors that are the ‘common denominator’ of Internet access are cost of installation, ongoing monthly cost for service, length of contract required, and, equally important, Internet access ‘speed’.
The cost of having a satellite Internet access system installed can cost $300.00—400.00 (or more), companies installing these systems typically require a two year contract (with a substantial ‘cancellation penalty’) for canceling before the end of their contract, they charge anywhere from $45.00—$80.00 (or more) a month for their service; yet, they don’t offer speeds anywhere close to what is available from www.tothehome.com’s WIRELESS HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE. It is also worth noting that satellite TV companies (DirecTV and DISH Network) advertise that high speed wireless Internet service is also available to their customers. This isn’t exactly true. The satellite TV companies have a ‘deal’ with the local telephone companies, as well as satellite Internet companies. Once again, even if you go through DirecTV or DISH Network to obtain Internet access, you’re STILL subject to the conditions (committing to a specified period of retaining their service, hefty ‘cancellation fees’ for early cancellation, high monthly cost of service, etc.) and limits ( slow download/upload speeds, limited bandwidth, etc.) of the satellite Internet company or telephone companies that the satellite TV companies have ‘partnered’ with
The DSL Internet access offered by local telephone companies isn’t available to all of their customers and where it is available, the telephone company charges an ‘installation fee’, you have to wait to receive the (required) ’modem’ that they must send to you, their monthly charge for service is around $30.00-$35.00 per month (or more), a minimum of one year’s service is required (canceling before the expiration of the one year contract results in you being charged another hefty ‘cancellation fee’ of $99.00) and, in most cases where their DSL IS available, you’re limited to the speed with which you access the Internet.
Internet access via your cable TV company (in Carver County it’s Mediacom) is expensive and only available to ‘in town’ customers. If you live ‘out in the country’, their high speed Internet access simply isn’t available because you have to have access to their cable TV service in order to receive their high speed Internet access. Plus, the regular monthly price for their Internet access (if it’s even available) is around $60.00/month.
There IS a much simpler answer: Subscribe to WIRELESS HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE provided by www.tothehome.com; the local high speed wireless Internet Service Provider (ISP) serving the City of Hamburg and surrounding areas. No annual commitments, reliable service, fast installation and affordable monthly cost.
Their ‘pricing structure’ for installation, speed and monthly service will be changing soon.
